Elizabeth C. Hooks

Elizabeth Catherine Hooks, 85, of Kittanning, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. Born May 28, 1926, in Kittanning, Elizabeth was the daughter of Chauncey D. and Nora Marie (Toy) Hooks. Elizabeth graduated from Kittanning High School and was employed by Alltel. She later worked for more than 30 years as an operator for Northwestern Bell in Council Bluffs, Iowa, until her return to Kittanning in 1992. Elizabeth was a member of Grace Brethren Church, West Kittanning. She also enjoyed being part of the community at Rivercliff Terrace Home in Kittanning and appreciated the staff and her friends there. Surviving Elizabeth are her sisters, Lois Beckwith, of Palm Coast, Fla., and Vera Miller, of Kittanning; her brother, Chauncey Y. Hooks, of Mars Hill, N.C.; as well as 12 nieces and nephews. Preceding Elizabeth in death were her parents, Nora Marie and Chauncey D. Hooks; and her brother, Robert V. Hooks. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Friday at the SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME in Kittanning. The Rev. Larry Edwards and the Rev. Ronald Jurke will co-officiate. Private interment at the Myers Cemetery.
