A. James “Jim” Johnson Jr., 79, of Kittanning died Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, at VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.  He was born on Oct. 1, 1936, in Kittanning to A. James Sr. and Agatha (Moore) Johnson.  Jim retired from Pittsburgh and Shawmut Coal Company, where he was a coal broker.  A member of the Grace Presbyterian Church in Kittanning and he also belonged to the Mason’s 805 Seneca Lodge and was a member of the Coudersport Consistory.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reading and was a Deputy Game Warden.  He was a lifelong resident of the area.  Survivors include his wife, Ruby (Cessna) Johnson of Kittanning; sons, A. James III (Donna) Johnson of Spring, Texas and John Darren (Dracy) Johnson of Malvern, Arkansas; daughter, Lisa Johnson McGovern and significant other, Kipp Welteroth of Trafford, Pennsylvania; granddaughters, Rebecca (TJ) Thurlkill of El Dorado, Arkansas, Tara McGovern (Eric) Kneisel of Burke, Virginia, Sara (Benjamin) Cozad of Spring, Texas, Katherine (Mark) Biga of Brentwood, Tennessee and Andrea Johnson of Ambridge, Pennsylvania; grandson, Noah (Salem) Johnson of Spring, Texas; great-grandson, Collin Biga; great-grandson, Winston Cozad; great-granddaughter, Charlotte Biga; great-granddaughter, Penelope Johnson; great-granddaughter, Wrenleigh Thurlkill; great-grandson, Aiden Kneisel; great-grandson, Truman Cozad; brother, William (Sue) Johnson of Kittanning; sister, Joanne Hetrick of Kittanning; and former son-in-law, William McGovern of Pittsburgh.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning. Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home until the time of the service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Caves officiating. Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society, or American Heart Association.
