Albert F. “Al” Unger, 92, of Kittanning died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at the ACMH Hospital. He was born on Sept. 2, 1924, in Tidal to the late Fred and Elsie (Waine) Unger. Al was a life-long resident of the area. He retired as a service manager from Davis Buick Cadillac in Kittanning. He was a life-long member of the Tidal Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder for 59 years. He was a 32nd degree mason for 53 years at the Kittanning Lodge 244, and was also a member of the Coudersport Consistory. Al was a member of the Pine Creek Sportsman’s Club. He was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, especially at his fishing camp in Canada, traveling, and farming on the family homestead in Tidal. He was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Betty J. (Anthony) Unger of Kittanning, whom he married on July 20, 1951; son, Larry (Marcia) Unger of Worthington; daughters, Deborah (Dr. Philip) Davern of Meadville and Melissa (Jeff) Adams of New Alexandria; grandson, Brandon (Jessica) Unger of Seattle, Washington; and granddaughter, Amanda (Mark) Heltzel of Pittsburgh. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Harold and Donald Unger. Friends will be received on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday in the funeral home with additional visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service with the Rev. Sarah Heppenstall officiating. Interment will be in the Tidal Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Tidal Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 567 Madison Road, Templeton, Pa. 16259.
