Amy Alberta (Reichert) Stitt, 96, of Kittanning, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, at VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler. She was born Dec. 19, 1920, in Portersville, in Butler County, to the late Mary R. Rice and Alvin Albert Reickert. She graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1939, and from Butler Memorial Hospital Nursing School in 1944. She was a cadet nurse at Chelsea Naval Hospital in Boston, Mass., in 1945. She was employed at ACMH Hospital, general and private duty, and also at Armsdale Home and Hospital. She was a hospice volunteer at Butler VNA Hospice for 23 years. Amy was an active member of Emmanuel (Heilman) Lutheran Church and a member of the Armstrong County Registered Nurse Association. Amy is survived by her husband of 72 years, Robert Stitt; daughters, Mrs. Leroy (Nancy) Baker of Ford City, Barbara Busch and friend, Allan Hanson, of Clarksville, Tenn., Mrs. William (Rosemarie) Brown of Westminster, Colo., and Mrs. Greg (Susan) Shaw, of Shelocta; grandchildren, Tammy Baum (Jamie), Kimberly Gearhart (Michael), Shelby (J.D.) Dubes, Robert Busch (Barbara), Teresa Booker (Peter), Kristin Carey (Jeremy), Justin Shaw, and Sarah Scrips (Ryan); and 17 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; brother, Joseph Reichert; and sisters, Arlene Cosgrove, Margaret Lindey, Ruth Hoenig, and Mary Eleanor Gilliland. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, 2017, at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning. Additional viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Emmanuel (Heilman) Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jack Delk officiating. Interment will be in Emmanuel (Heilman) Lutheran Church Cemetery.
