Arnold C. Knappenberger

Arnold Claire Knappenberger, 100, of Worthington, formerly of Sander, died on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, at Meadow Lake Manor.  He was born on June 11, 1916, in West Franklin Township to Joseph E. and Ella J. (Edwards) Knappenberger.  Mr. Knappenberger was a retired crane operator at Allegheny Ludlum. He was a World World II Army veteran. He attended the First Baptist Church in Tarentum and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Ford City.  Survivors include one brother, Billie R. Knappenberger of Worthington; one sister, Beatrice E. Shearer of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Juanita (Browder) Knappenberger; two brothers, Norwood W. Knappenberger and Percy E. Knappenberger; and three sisters, Vera Z. Wheat, Retha M. Grafton, and Freda A. Ruffaner.  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home, 119 Bear St., Worthington. Additional viewing will be held from 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Alfred Reedy officiating. Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates. Memorial contributions may be made to Mechling Shakley Veterans Center, Freeport Meals on Wheels, or Orphans of the Storm.
