Betty Jean (Long) Cressler, 88, of Kittanning, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016, at the Armstrong County Health Center. She was born June 14, 1928, in Armstrong County, to Fred and Ruth (Bowser) Long. She was a lifelong resident of the area. She worked at Montgomery Ward and the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital and was also a homemaker. She was also a member of the Free Methodist Church in Kittanning. She loved to do gardening, crafts, taking walks, sitting on the front porch and spending time with her children, grandchildren and family members. She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her friends at the Health Center. Survivors include her daughter, Pat Ash, of Kittanning; son, Jerry (Sona) Cressler, of Natrona Heights, and Paul (Deb) Cressler, of Kittanning; six grandchildren, Shawn and wife, Hazel, April and husband, Kevin, Becky and husband, Scottie, Krystle, Kelsie and husband, Brock, and Emily; two great-grandchildren, Michael and Ava Marie; sister, Linda Flick, of Florida; brother, Bob (Maxine) Long, of Worthington; sister-in-law, Marsha Long, of Worthington; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dene Cressler; daughter, Gloria Cressler; great-grandson, Stellar P. Cressler; brothers, Charles, Paul and Don Long; and sister, Delores Stewart.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME in Kittanning. Additional visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with Gloria A. Carney, corps sergeant major of the Salvation Army, officiating. Interment will be in the Worthington Presbyterian Cemetery
