Harold Hendershot, 88, of Kittanning died on Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, in his daughter’s residence under hospice care.
He was born Dec. 9, 1928, in Sherrett, to the late Charles and Jennie (Rickel) Hendershot.
Harold was a coalminer and veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict.
He enjoyed gardening, farming, bird watching, wildlife, beekeeping, canning, coin collecting, anything made from his garden treasures. Most of all he enjoyed being on his farm with his family and friends.
Harold leaves behind to cherish his memory, sons, Ed Hendershot and Gary (Dodi Patton) Hendershot, all of Cowansville; daughters, Nancy Hendershot of Findlay, Ohio, and Donna (Jimmy) Bowser of Kittanning; granddaughters, Diana Gardner of Findlay and Ashleigh Bowser of Kittanning; sisters, Erma (Thomas) Johnson of Butler, Betty Aspelin of Butler, Jean Dauntless of Portland, Ore., and Mary (Richard) Sagrati of Cowansville.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Hendershot; brothers, Charles, Harvey, Raymond, Herbert and a brother who died in infancy Hendershot; and sisters, Helen Brink and June Polanec.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 832 East Brady Road, Cowansville. Additional viewing will be held on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, in the funeral home from noon until time of services at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Sherrett Cemetery.
