Helen J. (Janukites) Mowery, 78, of Kittanning, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at her son's home, where she lived. Born April 9, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Sara Janukites. She was a housewife and was Lutheran by faith. Mrs. Mowery enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Mowery, on Nov. 22, 1996; brothers, Bill, George and Pete Janukites; and a sister, Mary Janukites. Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Thomas Mowery, of Kittanning, Theodore and Donna Mowery, of Florida, and Howard and Joy Mowery, of Kittanning; the following grandchildren: Howard Paul Mowery and family and David Simmers and family, all of Butler, Jason and Shauna McGinnis and family, Adam and Gretchen McGinnins and family, Mike Mowery, Shailynn Mowery, and Carl and Gretchen Mowery and family, all of Kittanning, Elizabeth Mowery, of Florida, Howard Mowery and Thomas Mowery, both of Kittanning; 18 great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Jim Janukites, Stella and Ralph Holz, Joe and Janet Janukites, and Rose Janukites. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Sunday at the KENNEDY & BLODGETT FUNERAL HOME, in Kittanning, with Matthew Cornman officiating. Interment in Worthington Lutheran Cemetery. Donations may be made to the funeral home.
