James E. Heckman, 88, of Kittanning passed away on Sept. 18, 2016, at Kittanning Care Center. He was born on Sept. 17, 1928, in Cowanshannock Township to Edward Elwood and Edith Jane Heckman. He worked as a long haul truck driver until he retired. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kittanning. His hobbies included collecting model cars, camping, boating and blue grass music. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Shirley Jean (Shuster) Heckman; four sons, Larry James (Kay) Heckman, of Cohutta, Georgia, Terry L. (Diane) Heckman, of Fountain Hills, Arizona, Tim L. (Noell) Heckman, of Wolfeboro Falls, New Hampshire, and Jerry Elwood (Barbara) Heckman, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Ashley Heckman and Chris Heckman, both of Denver, Colorado, Zachary Heckman, of Rome, Georgia, Jennifer McDeavitt, of Slippery Rock, Tyler Heckman, of Scottsdale, Arizona, Damon Heckman Religa, of Ford City, Matt Heckman and Brittany Heckman, both of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, Amanda Heckman and Jesse Heckman, both of Colorado Springs; eight great-grandchildren; and three brothers Wayne Heckman, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, Dale Heckman, of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Larry McNabb, of Winter Springs, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Kennedy and Blodgett Funeral Home,253 N. Grant Ave., Kittanning, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Debbie Marshall officiating. Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates.
