James C. Ruffner

James Ruffner, 75, of Kittanning, passed away Friday March 17, 2017 at Butler Memorial Hospital. He was born January 5, 1942 in Freeport to the late Gail and Agnes (Easley) Ruffner. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1961-1966. Jim loved and was very proud of his service time. He also went on to graduate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In his early career, he was a nursing home administrator before going into giftware sales, representing many national brands and forming his own company. He retired from Continental Health Services in Kittanning.

His memberships included the Kittanning Elks Lodge, Kittanning Men’s Club, and the Pattonville VFW. He loved golf, history, and politics.

Survived by:

His wife of 46 years, Daphne, whom he married on November

7, 1970. Sister Mary Kranak of Oakmont. Brothers John (Shirley) Ruffner of Freeport and William (Carol) Ruffner of Natrona Heights. Several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by:

Parents; brother, Alex Michael Ruffner; and three sisters, Jean Koprivnakar, Nancy Blystone and Linda Rutter.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Snyder Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean Street, Kittanning. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jim’s honor to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka KS, 66675
