John Allen Armstrong, 76, of Silver Springs, Fla., died Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, at Estelle’s Hospice House in Ocala.  He was born Aug. 8, 1941, in Mahoning, Pa., to the late Alvie and Margaret (Lingler) Armstrong.  He was retired from Eljer, where he worked as a laborer.  John served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a member of Sloan Hill Church in Templeton and Tall Timber Church in Silver Springs.  He was a member of the American Legion and Antique Automobile Club of America.  John enjoyed antique car shows, hunting, woodworking, and spending time with family. Survivors include his wife, Eva (McGhee) Armstrong; sons, John (Debra) Armstrong and Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Armstrong, all of Ford City; daughter, Deborah (Jeffrey) Heginbotham of Kittanning; grandchildren, Ashley, Tanner, Kelsey, and Abagail Armstrong, Caleb and Cole Heginbotham, all of Kittanning; great-grandchild, Brentley Johns; step-son, Frank McGhee Jr.; step-daughters, Leann (Jerry) Smith and Iva Verble; eight step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren ; 2 step-great-greatgrandchildren; and sister, Kay Cousins of Templeton.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his spouse, Carol Jean (Cogley) Armstrong; daughter, Susan Marie Armstrong; sister, Helen Jane (Armstrong) Lewis; and brother, James Armstrong.  Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with an additional hour of viewing prior to the service. Burial will be at Mateer Cemetery.
