Mary E. Winter, 94, of Ford City died on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, in Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.
She was born on Feb. 10, 1922, in Bluefield, West Virginia to the late Rev. John and Sarah (Eller) Wimmer.
She was a member of Appleby Manor Presbyterian Church in Manor.
Mary served as a school secretary at Ford City Elementary and Lenape Elementary for 28 years, retiring in 1985.
She loved spending time with her family, tending to her flower garden, and serving her Lord at her local church.
She is survived by two daughters, Virginia Grafton and husband, Donald, of Kittanning and Barbara Kowalik and husband, Peter, of Level Green; four grandchildren, Susan Edgington and husband, Tom, Doug Grafton and wife Cindy, Sarah Heller and husband, Carl, and Emily McFerren and husband, Colin; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George Winter, who died in 1951, and three brothers and four sisters.
The family would graciously like to thank the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice, Grey’s Colonial Garden Assisted
Living, and numerous medical staffs along this journey. Your love and care was a wonderful blessing.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home, 253 N. Grant St., Kittanning. Additional viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home until the time of funeral services at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Lloyd Riggle officiating. Interment will be in Appleby Manor Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mary’s honor to Good Samaritan Hospice c/o Concordia Lutheran Ministries Foundation, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, Pa. 16023.
