He was the voice of the Hutchinson Christmas tree during my childhood.

I mean, literally. He and Katie were good friends with my Grandma and Grandpa (Tom and Jean Hutchinson) and he made a recording that they would play on a cassette player hidden behind their Christmas tree. Every Christmas Eve he pretended he was their Christmas tree just waking up[yawn] from a long hibernation. He would call each child up by name and ask them to hold his branch and tell him (the tree!) what they wanted for Christmas. The whole experience was wondrous as a child, and a complete riot after we figured out the hoax.

I remember he and Katie with so much warmth; always fun and humor when they were around. We all called him "turkey" for some reason...I think it's because he always referred to us kids as turkeys.

Such a wonderful man, and we have been so blessed to have his smile and humor for so many years. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
