William C. "Bill""Pappy" Elgin Jr., 68, a lifelong resident of Kittanning, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011. Born Feb. 25, 1943, in Kittanning, he was a son of the late William C. Elgin Sr. and Esther M. (Hetrick) Elgin. He was a retired caster from Elger in Ford City. He was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the Kittanning Eagles and Fraternal Order of Moose 137 in Kittanning. Bill liked gardening and going to flea markets. He loved listening to blues music. Survivors include his wife, Mary "Liz" (Johnson) Elgin; daughter, Tracy Roberts; sons, Bill Elgin and Brian Elgin, all of Kittanning; stepdaughters, Sherry Stephens, of Kittanning, Sheila Jibben, of Missouri, Sandi Slaughter, of Missouri, and Tammy Rodnicki, of Butler; stepson, Tim Odrechowski, of Kittanning; grandsons, Michael Ridinger, of Kittanning, and Christopher Roberts, of Pittsburgh; four stepgrandsons, Ryan, Greg, Brad and Michael; four stepgranddaughters, Paige, Morgan, Jennifer and Amelia; two great-grandchildren, Kayleigh and Kaleb Ridinger; and a stepgreat-grandchild, Johnathon Watkins. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at KENNEDY & BLODGETT FUNERAL HOME, Kittanning. Additional visitation will be held from 10 until the time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. John Snyder officiating. The Kittanning Eagles will held a service at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
