Barbara Ann Ruth, 84, of Kittanning, passed away Thursday Aug. 16, 2018, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. She was born June 25, 1934, in McGrann, the daughter of Max Hileman and Ethel (Kennerdell) Hileman. Barbara was a lifelong resident of the area. She graduated from Ford City High School. She was a homemaker. Barbara was an example to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She taught them how to love and take care of one another. She loved her dog Fluffy, and in her pastime, she cheered for the Steelers. She was a great cook and baker, and canned and froze foods. Her homemade buns, peach cobbler, and gravy were the very best. She also had a very charitable heart, giving freely.
Barbara leaves behind her loving husband of 63 years of marriage, Glenn A. Ruth; two sons, William (Patty) Ruth and James (Carol) Ruth; daughter, Cindy (Thomas) Hays; five grandchildren, James Schawl, Glenn Shawl, Stephanie Fair, Charlotte Hays, and Sandy Hays; and two great-grandchildren, Lily Fair and Morgan Schawl.
At this time, she is walking the golden streets of Heaven, meeting those who already passed, including her mother and father, Mac and Ethel Hileman; her sisters, Jean Jack, Thelma Kamer, Sarah Graham, and Maxine Seckinger; and her brother Milo Hileman.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m., until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m., on Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, at Cornerstone Assembly of God, 121 Woodland Drive, Kittanning, with Rev. Michael Bobbitt officiating. A lunch will be held afterwards at the church. Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates. Arrangements are entrusted to Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning.
