Beverley (Higginson) Armstrong

Beverley (Higginson) Armstrong, 83, of Chicora, formerly of Mosgrove, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017 at Chicora Medical Center.

Beverley graduated from Kittanning High School and was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Kittanning. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed her family, her church, and was an awesome seamstress.

She worked for years at Big River Manufacturing, later at House of Fabrics, and until her retirement, in the fabric department at Wal-Mart. She courageously fought Alzheimer ’s disease for the last several years.

She leaves behind her children, Sherry (Fred) Dzugan, of Ford City, Terry (Steven) Tack, of Kittanning, Alvie (Connie) Armstrong, of Kittanning, Jim (Marcy) Armstrong, of Dayton, and Tom Armstrong, of Sligo; grandchildren, Lyndsay (Michael) Blystone, Luke (Alivia) Dzugan, Billie Jo Hawley, Kory Tack, Emily (Collin) George, Jim (Brittany) Armstrong, Alvie (Amanda) Armstrong, Jake (Justine) Armstrong, and Kierra Armstrong; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Tanner Blystone, Lucy Dzugan, Parker Armstrong, Chloe Armstrong, Harper Armstrong, and Emily and Collin’s unborn child. She is also survived by her sisters Paulette Dunmire and Cindy Higginson; her brother, Donald Higginson; sisters-in-law, Kay Cousins, Eva Armstrong, Evelyn Higginson, Shirley Higginson, Donna Higginson, of Iowa, and Donna Higginson of Kittanning; brother-in-law Scott Lewis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 41 years, James Alvie Armstrong, whom she married June 27, 1953 and who died March 6, 1994; sisters Pat Heasley, Shirley Walker; brothers Robert Higginson, William Higginson, and Thomas Higginson; brothers-in-law, John Walker, Larry Heasley, Tom Dunmire, and Bud Cousins; sisters-in-law, Jane Lewis and Jean Armstrong.

At the family’s request, there will be no public viewing or service. Memorial contributions in Beverley’s memory can be made to St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, 333 N. McKean St., Kittanning, Pa 16201. Arrangements are entrusted to the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning.
