Carolyn (Sherry) Bowser, 83, of Lancaster, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, at Calvary Fellowship Homes, Lancaster.

She was the wife of Carl O. Bowser, with whom she shared 53 years of Marriage in April 2017.

She was the daughter of the late George and Grace Sherry of Worthington.

Carolyn is survived by two sisters, Barbara Sherry and Janice Sherry Monte, wife of Joseph Monte, Lancaster, and 11 nieces and nephews.

Carolyn graduated from Worthington West-Franklin High School with honors in 1952.

After working a year as a nurses-aide at the Armstrong Memorial Hospital, she attended Baptist Bible Seminary, Johnson City, N.Y., graduating with a Bachelor’s in Religious Education.

While teaching school in Binghamton, N.Y., she attended Cortland State University N.Y. and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education. After marrying in 1963, she taught in Coraopolis, until moving to Rockville, Md., where at Riverdale Christian School she taught fourth and fifth grades and then became the Elementary Principal. She ended her career as a Professor of Elementary Education at Washington Bible College, Lanham, Md. After 41 years in education, she retired in 1998, and moved to Lancaster.

She was a member of Calvary Church, Lancaster, where she was a greeter.

She enjoyed reading, sewing, scrap-booking, and many other crafts.

Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home, 119 Bear St., Worthington. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home where there will be additional visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Pastor Robert Hindman will be officiating. Interment will be in the Worthington Presbyterian Cemetery.
