Charles Clarence Burns, 81, of Kittanning, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, peacefully at his home. He was born on June 11, 1937, in Gilpin Township to the late Benjamin and Stella Burns. Charles was a lifelong resident of the area, and retired from Freeport Brickyard. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. (USMC), and attended Alliance Church in Kittanning. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 863 in Kittanning, and the Kittanning Eagles. He enjoyed his family, traveling, spending time at Kittanning Riverfront Park, Life Armstrong, and was an avid sports fan.
Mr. Burns leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters, Lora Gearhart, Julie (Mark) Stillson, and Char (Dave) Young of Kittanning, Kim (Mark) Olczak of Las Vegas, and Chris (Scott) Roush of Worthington; grandchildren, Nikki (Rick) Lias of Dayton, Justine (JR) Wensel of Rural Valley, Kathleen (Brandon) Peters of Elderton, Bryana (Travis) Eastlick of Kittanning, Michael (Meagan) Roush of Ford City, Dawn (Mark) Eiler of Fenelton, Cyndi Vinton of Kittanning, and Zoe Vinton of Kittanning. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Ricky and Lily Lias of Dayton, Andrew, Jasmin, and Cameron Wensel of Rural Valley, Mason, Logan, and Amelia Peters of Elderton, Jadence, Maelynn and Jaric Roush of Ford City, Eliana Rudy of Fenelton, Allison, Remi, and Hunter Eiler of Fenelton; as well as companion and friend Evelyn Kovalcik. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Burns; four brothers — Stephen “Laird” Burns, Victor Burns, Harvey Burns, and William Burns; five sisters — Dorothy Phillippi, Betty Henry, Velma “Toots” Ortz, Alice Burns, and Sara Burns.
Per Mr. Burns’ wishes, there will be no viewing, and private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
