Clarence Craig Obituary

Clarence H. “Butch” Craig, 70, of Kittanning, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, at VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.  Born in Kittanning, on April 3, 1948, he was a son of the late Ralph and Rebecca (Cechi) Craig.  Butch was a lifelong resident of the community.  He was retired from Westinghouse, where he was an inspector.  He was a U.S. Marine Corps. veteran, serving in Vietnam, for which he was awarded the Purple Heart.  He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.  Butch was a member of the Kittanning Eagles.  He enjoyed reading, being outside, watching football and hockey, but most of all, he loved his grandchildren.

Left behind to cherish his memory includes his wife of 48 years, Peggy Craig; daughter, Leslie Craig, of Kittanning; son, Mark Craig and wife, Beth, of Kittanning; granddaughters, Amber Craig and Alexis Heckman, both of Alabama; a brother, Ralph Craig and wife, Kryss, of Kittanning; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Pat Shearer, of Kittanning; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin grandsons, Alexander and Shawn Craig.

Friends will be received on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019, from 4-8 p.m. at Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home, 253 N. Grant Ave., Kittanning. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Howard D. Gillette officiating. Burial will follow in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, with Military Honors. The family asks that flowers not be sent due to allergies. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mechling-Shakley Veteran Center, 1413 State Route 268, Cowansville, Pa. 16218.
