Dale F. Lasher

Dale Franklin Lasher, 91, of Kittanning, died Monday, March 12, 2018, at home surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born on Sept. 20, 1926, in Adrian, Pa., to the late Bryan J. and Millie F. (Crissman) Lasher.

Dale was a resident of Armstrong County all of his life, and a professional carpenter (Union No. 333, Pittsburgh, Pa.) for 40 years.

Mr. Lasher served in the U.S Army during World War II, where he was recognized for his service in Europe. He was a member of the Walkchalk Salem Baptist Church, and the Masonic Lodge No. 244.

Dale was a man of many talents. He enjoyed woodworking, especially in retirement, creating and refinishing furniture, giving many of his creations away. He also enjoyed tinkering in his workshop, photography, locksmithing, traveling, being outside, and reading. Dale had a wonderful sense of humor and loved talking about politics and history. He had a very gentle and kind soul, and was liked by all that met him.

Dale is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jean, and his daughter Elizabeth Lasher of State College, Pa.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Cheryl (Mike) Choncek of Adrian, Pa.; Linda (Giovanni) Palma of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; Veryl (Dianna) Wolfe of Ford City, Pa.; and Janice (Dan) Parkhill of Destrchan, La. Dale’s extended family included Terry Dailey and Sandy Earley of Kittanning, who became like a son and daughter to him; Mickey Tomasetti of State College, Pa., and Karen and Peter Sarkis of Canonsburg, Pa., all of whom were loved very much by Dale.

The family would like to acknowledge their appreciation of the support provided by the in-home caregivers, and the professionals who assisted at the Kittanning and West Penn hospitals.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Nellie (George) Wolfe, Thelma (Clark) Crawford, twin brother Gale (Carmela) Lasher, and niece Carol (Wolfe) Henry.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at the Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home, 253 N. Grant Ave., Kittanning, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Additional viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 15, 2018, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Charles Layne officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawn Haven Burial Estates Mausoleum.
