David Leroy Hankey, 56, of Templeton, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, at home with his family by his side.  He was born Feb. 22, 1961, in Kittanning to Ernest “Son” and Evelyn (Slagle) Hankey.  Dave was a heavy equipment operator.  He attended Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church. He married his high school sweetheart, Deborah, and they were married for 38 years.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Dave also enjoyed woodworking, hunting, trapping, baking, going to flea markets, and going to the ocean to fish. He loved animals, especially his dogs, “Buster”, and his Redbone Coonhounds, “Sophie” and “Max.”  He is survived by his father, Ernest “Son” Hankey of Kittanning; his wife, Deborah (August) Hankey; daughter, Jennifer (Kevin) Crawford of Kittanning; son, Jeremy (Melissa) Hankey of Kittanning; grandson, Landon Crawford of Kittanning; granddaughter, Olivia Crawford of Kittanning; twin grandsons, Coltyn and Carter Hankey of Kittanning; step-granddaughter, Wynter Bosworth of Kittanning; sister, Sharon (Robert) Rhodes of Kane; and brother, Jerry Hankey of Shelocta.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn (Slagle) Hankey, who passed away in 2011; maternal and paternal grandparents; and sister-in-law, Joan Hankey, who passed away in 2007.  Services will be private and arrangements are entrusted to the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning. In lieu of flowers, the family requests all donations are made to the funeral home to help offset funeral expenses.
