Douglas R. “Dougie” Powell, 67, of Kittanning, died Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at home peacefully with his family by his side.
He was born on Jan. 17, 1951, in Kittanning, to the late Byrun H. and Kathleen (Showers) Powell.
He was employed at the 7 UP Bottling Company and then at Foster Auto Parts and Armstrong Auto Parts.
Dougie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kittanning.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and bowling.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Linda (Shuttleworth) Powell; son, Joshua Powell; sisters, Diane Mc- Millen, of Clarion and Penny (James) Kriebel, also of Clarion; mother-in-law, Jane L. Shuttleworth, of Kittanning; brothers-in-law, Harry (Donna) Shuttleworth, of Kittanning and John R. (Kim) Shuttleworth, of Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step mother, Helen Powell; father-in-law, John R. Shuttleworth, Sr.; and brother-in-law, Sam McMillen.
Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home, 253 N. Grant Ave., Kittanning. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Kittanning, where there will be additional visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service with the Rev. Wade Berkey and Brad Hellein officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home.
