Gary Dwight Lash, 74, of Cadogan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, at the VNA Hospice in Butler, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Kittanning, on Sept. 1, 1944, and was the son of Reynolds M. and Martha (Allott) Lash.
Gary graduated from Kittanning High School.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and served in the Vietnam War. He served aboard the USS Bor Homme Richard.
He was a member of the Pattonville Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was employed by Eljer in Ford City, for six years and retired from the coal mines after 25 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Walker Lash; and his children, Shane Lash (Dee), of Ford Cliff and Shelly Lash, of Ford City; four grandsons, Justin, Jacob and Ryan Lash, and Adam Englert. He is also survived by five siblings, Reynolds (Darla) Lash, of Bowling Green, Ky., Jerry (Nancy) Lash, of Clarence N.Y., Lowell Thomas (Jennie) Lash, of Adrian, Hope Lash-Conte (Jack), of Parrish, Fla.; and Richard Lash (Dee) of Kittanning. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, Gary is survived by four step-children, Ray McIntyre (Candy), of Kittanning, Pam Everett (Kelly), of Widnoon, Daniel McIntyre (Alice), of Templeton, and Wade McIntyre, of Templeton; and numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Linda Bevington Lash, the mother of his children; and a step-son, Mark McIntyre.
Gary was an avid outdoorsman and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking. He looked forward to planting his garden each spring. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and will be remembered for always helping others.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, at Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning. Interment will be in the Montgomery Cemetery in Adrian. The family wishes to thank VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler, for their care of Dwight, and the kindness to his family.
