J. Leroy “Tooter” Forringer, of Kittanning. He was born Sept. 22, 1931, to Foster and Claire Forringer in Mahoning, Pa. He was one of 11 siblings who are all deceased. Peacefully he traded his home, which he built and loved so much, for his eternal home in Heaven on Saturday, March 10, 2018. He passed with the loving hands of his daughters, Soni and Brenda, and wife, Dot comforting him. He was a strong, courageous man having survived three melanoma skin cancers over the years. He succumbed to a rare lung cancer and was never a smoker. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending 22 winters in Florida. He loved to mow his grass and tend to his many flowers. He enjoyed his friendships and working at West Penn Power for 33 years, retiring as a supervisor. A special thanks to Dr. Philip Gelacek and staff, especially Connie, for their medical support. A special thanks to his niece Nancy, who accompanied him to all of his Pittsburgh physician’s appointments and radiation therapy treatments. For all the prayers for our family and all the warm handshakes we “Thank you.” He will be greatly missed by his wife, of 63 years, Dot Forringer and daughters, Soni, Susan, and Brenda; and his nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018, at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 334 Arch St., Kittanning. Donations may be made in Leroy’s memory to support lung cancer research at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, checks should be made payable to University of Pittsburgh, with J.
