James T. Ambrose Sr.

James “Jim” T. Ambrose Sr., 87, of Driftwood, Pa., formerly of Adrian, died Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at home surrounded by his family.

He was born Dec. 12, 1930, in Tarrtown, Pa., to the late Eva M. Ambrose.

He was a lifelong resident of the area and retired after 37 years as a barber in West Kittanning.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in the Korean War.

Jim was of the Lutheran faith.

He was an avid hunter, fisher, and trapper.

He loved his New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys.

He liked playing cards and telling old stories and keeping everyone laughing.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years A. Bonnie (River) Ambrose of Driftwood, Pa.; five children Sally (Jeff) Holmes of Elizabethtown, Ky., Beverly (Tom Bowser) Morrow of Kittanning, James (Nichole Harvey) Ambrose Jr. of Driftwood, Pa., Tammy (Craig) Hughes of Rineyville, Ky., and Amy (Keith) Bash of Sarver, Pa.; nine grandchildren including Rob Morrow, Mel Sheasley, Jamie Olvera, Jeff Holmes II, Ashley Stephens, Erica Nichols, Sidney Bash, Hayden Bash, Cameron Ambrose; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother; grandson David Holmes; and son-in-law Robert Morrow.

Friends will be received Saturday, July 28, 2018, from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at 4 p.m. in the Snyder Crissman Funeral home in Kittanning, with Pastor Missy Smith officiating.
