Welcome to the memorial page for

Jamie C. (Bentley) Schneider

December 24, 1951 ~ April 25, 2013 (age 61) 61 Years Old

Jamie C. Schneider, of Kittanning, author of "Who Will Make the Pies When I'm Gone?," passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Jamie's book is a memoir of her journey and a "no sugar added" discussion of the dark side of cancer. Prior to becoming an author, Jamie dedicated 20 years of her life to serving as a drug and alcohol counselor at Arc Manor, in Kittanning, where she impacted many lives. After retiring from Arc Manor, Jamie began making pies, breads and her famous cinnamon rolls, as well as making jams and jellies, to sell at the Kittanning Farmers Market. When she was diagnosed with cancer, Jamie redefined her life through writing. Jamie wished to be spared nothing that properly belongs to a life span, and she relished every experience, even in sickness. Given her love of life, it was only natural that gardening became a passion for Jamie. Seeing new plant life each spring was one of Jamie's greatest joys. In lieu of sending flowers, Jamie would want you to plant flowers of your own and enjoy the feeling of earth between your fingers. Jamie was preceded in death by her longtime canine companion, Zeus, who died from his own battle with cancer shortly after Jamie was diagnosed. Jamie is survived by her husband, Bill. They would have celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on May 6. She is also survived by her two sons, Marc Schneider and his wife, Nikki (Germy) Schneider, and their daughter, Molly Elizabeth Schneider, and Patrick Schneider and his wife, Carrie (Bellas) Schneider. Jamie is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Jerome Bentley, of Lawrenceville, N.J., Janice Hall, of Pittsburgh, Judson Bentley, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Jeffrey Bentley, Joseph Bentley, Joan (Bentley) Reld, Therese (Bentley) Peterson and Michelle Bentley, all of Pittsburgh; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013, and from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, in the SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning, PA 16201.
