Janet Ruth (Bell) Pettengill, 85, of Kittanning, died unexpectedly on Thursday, December 27, 2018. She was born March 15, 1933 in Cowanshannock Township to the late Clarence Clyde Bell and Sara Josephine (Simpson) Bell. She formerly worked at the Armstrong County Court House and Merchant’s Bank in Kittanning. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Kittanning as well as Kittanning Country Club. Janet enjoyed Florida winters, golfing, and social events with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Pettengill; sisters, Woodine (John) Zanotti and Alice Graham; brother, Larry (Jill) Bell; sisters-in-law, Anita (Harold) Grant and Carletta Nevens; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Vera Woytowish, Ginger (Virginia) Thiry, Lois Barker, and Joanne Smulik; and brother, James Bell.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning. Additional visitation will be held on Monday, December 31, 2018 at the Grace Presbyterian Church from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m., with Rev. Dr. Ron Shafer officiating. Burial will follow in Lawn Haven Burial Estates. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Janet’s memory to the Armstrong County Community Foundation or the Richard G. Laube Cancer Center.
