John A. Lane, II, 68, of Ford City, died on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. He was born on Dec. 12, 1949, in Kittanning, to Jack and Betty (Barnett) Lane. John retired from Lifesteps but previously worked at the mushroom farm and was an accountant at Pullman Standard. He enjoyed camping at Pymatuning and Cook Forest, was a member of the Willie Nelson Fan Club, and was drum major at Kittanning High School when he was a senior. He also played bass drum for the Kittanning Firemen’s Band and for numerous other bands in the area. John was a drum instructor for the Rayettes Marching Band and was also an avid Bernie Sanders supporter. He also enjoyed watching sports and the Dallas Cowboys.
John leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Betty (Barnett) Lane; son, John Alfred Lane, III; grandson, John Alfred Lane, IV; granddaughters, Alyssa Lane, Jenna Lane, Rebecca Lane, and Danielle Lane; great-granddaughter, Aubree Keys; and one great-grandson on the way; fiance, Diane Vause; brothers, Roger (Tina) Lane and Richard (Jean) Lane; sisters, Sherry (Bruce) McKillop,Tammy (Rick) Bowers, and Missy (Tom) Shaffer; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Lane. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, in the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Additional viewing will take place in the funeral home on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at noon with the Rev. Melissa Daniel officiating. Burial will follow in Lawn Haven Burial Estates in Worthington.
