Joseph George Greenawalt, 68, of Knox, formerly of Kittanning, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, in Clarion Hospital. He was born in Kittanning, on July 20, 1950, to the late George and Anna Marie (Graff) Greenawalt. Joe was a former officer for the Armstrong and Clarion county jails. He was a member of Christ (Rupp) Lutheran Church. A former volunteer firefighter for the Kittanning Township Volunteer Fire Department, he also was an U.S. Army veteran. Joe loved helping others, spending several years as an aide for people with disabilities. In his free time, he enjoyed playing the lottery and sitting on Esther’s porch watching the peacocks.
He leaves behind son, Jason (Lacy) Greenawalt, of Worthington; daughters, Heather Greenawalt, of Brackenridge, Melissa Greenawalt, of Kittanning, and Mallory Greenawalt, of Freeport; six grandchildren; sisters, Jane Stewart, of Homer City and Judy (Jack) Atwood, of Indianapolis; and brothers, Tom (Dot) Greenawalt, of Florida and Michael (Rachel) Station, of Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Eddie and Tom Station.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, Dec. 14, 2018, in the Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home, 253 N. Grant Ave., Kittanning, from 2-4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until time of funeral services at 8 p.m., with the Rev. Matthew Vatalare officiating.
