Kazuko Johns, 88, passed away into eternal glory with Jesus on Friday, December 21. 2018 at VNA Hospice in Butler, PA.
Born on March 22,1930 in Amami Oshima, Japan, she was the daughter of Akichiyo and Juichiro Yamaguchi Muranaka. She married Bob Johns in 1954 in Okinawa and arrived in the US in 1955 with their infant son, Kim. She became a member of the Brush Valley Brethren Church, being baptized on September 2, 1956. She was proud to become an US citizen on November 27, 1961. Kazuko was a seamstress and was employed at Big River Manufacturing Company from 1965 until she retired in 1997. Kazuko enjoyed spending her retirement days playing bingo at the Kittanning Senior Center with her dear friend, Rose, and socializing with her Japanese club members in Butler, PA. She enjoyed watching sports and always rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers. She was also fortunate enough to be able to travel several times to Japan to visit family and friends.
Kazuko is survived by her daughter Valrena Johns-Schultze, and two sons, Steve Johns and Todd Johns; her grandchildren, Rachel Shirley (Jared), Sarah Westlake, Zachary Johns, Jacob Johns, Jennifer McDeavitt (David), Andrew Schultze, Jordan Schultze, Brooke Sims (Jason), Cameron Johns, Todd Michael Johns (Casey), Brittany John (Mike), Lindsey Johns, and Caleb Johns; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Kim Johns, and grandsons Brett Johns and Blake Johns.
Friends will be received from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning. An additional hour of viewing will be held on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Brush Valley Brethren Church Cemetery in Adrian.
