Knewton Z. Cogley, age 91, of De Pere, formerly of Kittanning, PA, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018 in De Pere, Wisconsin. He was born the son of James F. (Lee) Cogley and Rebecca Houck Cogley on May 8, 1927 in Kittanning, PA.
He served in World War II from 1945 to 1947. He married the former Betty Miller of Sigel, PA on August 23, 1948. He started his working career at the Arcade Store in Kittanning. He then went to Mateer Furniture Store and then started his own carpet store, Cogley's Carpet, with his wife until his retirement in 1990.
In 2004 he moved to De Pere, Wisconsin with his wife to be near their daughter. He was a former Borough Councilman in West Kittanning, PA. He was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church, Kittanning, PA and an Honorary Fireman of the West Kittanning Fire Department. He enjoyed making things out of wood, even small cars.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Miller) Cogley; a son, Joseph Sullivan Cogley of Mifflinburg, PA and his 2 children, Joanne Cogley (and her 2 children) of New Jersey and Michelle Cogley Hunt (and her 3 children) of California and a daughter, Janet Cogley-Clymer of De Pere, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers: James, John, Sidney, Henry, and Wray, and 3 sisters: Martha Cogley, Annabelle Cogley, and Helena (Cogley) Guntrum. He was the last surviving member of his family.
Friends will be received from noon until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning, with Rev. Dana Wilmont of Grace Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment at Oakland Cemetery in Distant, Pa.
