Larry Joseph Lightbody, 70, of Freeport, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, at his home due to end stage renal disease.
He was born Aug. 27, 1947, in Kittanning to the late Joseph L. and Betty J. Lightbody, living most of his life in Kittanning Township and spending the last 17 years in Freeport.
Larry was a retired outside plant engineer for Windstream.
He was of Lutheran faith.
Larry retired after 30-plus years in the U.S. Army Reserves as Sergeant Major, receiving numerous accommodations and medals. He loved watching Penn State football and the Steelers.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife, Linda (Wolfe) Lightbody, of Freeport; son, Jason Lightbody (Tammy Hite), of Kittanning Township; daughter, Kelly (Bradley) Benasutti, of Palmyra; grandchildren, Cory Lightbody (Sarah Lindenberg), Aaron Lightbody (Brandy Fouse), Hunter Benasutti, and Brecken Benasutti; sister, Karen (Lightbody) Fulton; and brother, Gary (Deb) Lightbody.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018, at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning. Additional visitation will be held on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Arlene Schweitzer officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Adrian.
