Ronald Eugene Long, 85, of Ford City, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at Premier Armstrong Rehab and Nursing Center. He was born on Dec. 31, 1931, in Vandergrift, to the late James and Helen (Gumbert) Long. Ronald resided in the area for most of his life. He worked at Kroger’s, and as a Metropolitan Life Insurance agent. He also was a Presbyterian lay minister at Goheenville and Yatesboro Presbyterian churches. He was a member of the Appleby Manor Presbyterian Church in Ford City, where he was an Elder. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and wood working, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Lucille (Burns) Long; son, the Rev. Lonnie (Katie) Long of Ford City; daughters, Lynette (Bill) Dowling of Ford City and Lisa (Jeff) Foster of Danville, Pa.; grandchildren, Carrie (Matt), Crystal, Missy, Meg, Cora, Shelley (Matt), Emily, Abby, and Jacob; great-grandsons, Austyn, Kamryn, Brayden, Nathan, Kallen, Max, and Vincent; sister, Joan (Steve) Filipek; brother, Terry (Ruff) Long; and brother-in-law, Robert Burns. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Appleby Manor Presbyterian Church in Ford City, where there will be additional visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The Rev. Lonnie Long, his son, will be officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Ronald’s honor to the Appleby Manor Presbyterian Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
