Ruth Elizabeth (Gempel) Hixenbaugh

Ruth Elizabeth (Gempel) Hixenbaugh, 77, of Shelocta, died Sunday, May 27, 2018, at Specialty Hospice at Conemaugh in Johnstown, Pa.

She was born June 17, 1940, in Trenton, N.J., to the late Benjamin and Rose (Case) Gempel.

She was a cashier. Ruth liked crafting and was a collector of Avon and antiques. She enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include her husband, J. Dewey Hixenbaugh; sisters, Barbara Pollock, of Morrisville, Pa and Judy (Ernest) Sachweh of Shelocta, Pa; and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Pamela Burger; and nephew, William Swank.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at the Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home, 253 N. Grant Ave., Kittanning.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Rick Sweeney officiating. Interment will be in Cowan Cemetery.
