Sharyn Shaffer Obituary

Sharyn A. (Goodyear) Shaffer, 72, of Adrian, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2018 at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.  She was born Sept. 8, 1946, in Kittanning, to the late James Goodyear and Alfreda (Wasicik) Goodyear.  Sharyn lived her early years in Cadogan, and spent more than 35 years living in Adrian. She married Marion “Bud” Shaffer on Jan. 21, 1984. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Adrian, as well as being a member of the Over the Hill Gang.  She was the Democratic Chairperson for Washington Township.  Sharyn worked for Armstrong County Day Care for 30 years and Care-O-Sel Daycare for three years. She was also a council member of the Worthington Senior Center.  She loved bingo, traveling, reading books, and yard sales. Most of all, she loved her family, her grandchildren, and her husband, Bud, who was the best thing that ever happened to her.

Left behind to cherish her memory includes her husband, Marion “Bud” Shaffer; her daughter, Michelle (Jerry) Wilson, of Adrian; step-sons, Wayne (Carole Wolfe) Shaffer, Gary (Tammy) Shaffer, and Scott (Shani Heilman) Shaffer, all of Adrian; grandchildren, Kelly (Tyler) Martin, of Ford City, Kenneth (Rita) Shaffer, of Ford City, Bethanie Shaffer, of Adrian, Scott, Jr., (Brittany) Shaffer, of Adrian, Tristan Shaffer, of Adrian, Gary Shaffer Jr., of Adrian, Leah Wilson, of Adrian, and Hope Shaffer, of Adrian; step grandchildren, Amber, Jenny, Tommy, and Brad Wolfe, Tyler (Sandy) McClafferty, Christina (Derek) Jack, Amanda, Tyler, and Shane Bouch, Jerry Wilson Jr., Shane Cloak; great-grandchildren, Troy, Lane, William, Caden, Haley, Danielle, Ezra, Ryleigh, Kyleigh, Taylar, Logan, Colt, Caydence, and Brock; brothers, James (Doris) Goodyear, of Clymer, Charles (Barbra) Goodyear, of New Jersey; sisters, Jean (Bill) Turicik, of Carlisle and Kathy (Jim) Dunmire, of Ford City; brother-in-law, Bob Shumaker, of Manorville; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Tabitha Shaffer; and sister, Nancy Shumaker.

Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 832 East Brady Road, Cowansville. Additional viewing will be held on Tuesday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Matthew Vatalare officiating. Interment will be in the Johns Cemetery in Adrian.
