Thomas Arthur Mechling

Thomas Arthur Mechling, 78, of Kittanning, was called home on Jan. 11, 2019, at home.  He was born April 6, 1940, in Kittanning to the late Arthur Mechling and Margaret (Grates) Stephens. Thomas was a lifetime resident of the area and worked for Local Union No. 952 as a laborer. He was a member of VFW Post 4843.  He enjoyed working around the house, and on cars, going to casinos, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Wanetta (Mangus) Mechling, of Kittanning; five children: son, Thomas (Melissa) Mechling, of Kittanning, son, Logan Mechling, of Kittanning, daughter, Theresa (Rick) Lamison, of Kittanning, son, Tim (Tina) Mechling, of Kittanning, daughter, Melanie Mechling, of Kittanning; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; four sisters, Joan Cravenor and Mark Wolfe, of Karns City, Debbie Buffington and Dave Flick, of Butler, Peggy Delp, of South Carolina, and Mayburn Toy, of Kittanning.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two granddaughters, Shanna Mechling and Heather Lamison.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home where there will be additional visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service, with Pastor Jim Rose officiating. Interment will be in Christ Rupp Lutheran Church Cemetery.
