W. Jack “Rabbit” Norton, 89, of East Franklin Township, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 at ACMH Hospital.

He was born Feb. 9, 1928, in Kittanning, the son of Roy and Viola Norton.

Jack was a member of the First Church of God in Kittanning.

He was a Kittanning High School graduate and attended and graduated from Penn State, as well.

Jack was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II in Germany.

He was a Past Master of Masonic Lodge No. 244 where he had a life membership.

Jack was also a member of B.P.O.E 203, the VFW, Syria Shriners of Pittsburgh, and the Coudersport Consistory.

He was a watchmaker of W.P.H.I. in 1950. He was a real estate salesman for 40 years.

Jack retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass Research Lab in 1984 after 30 years of service, where he had 2 U.S. patents.

He traveled extensively with his trailer and friends.

Jack is best known for his cowboy hat and yellow sports car, often seen at parades.

He was also and avid fisherman and golfer and was very fond of poetry.

Left behind to cherish his memory include his daughters, Cheryl (Ron) Bono, of Worthington, and Judy (Tom) Szerensits, of Maryland; seven grandchildren, Wendy (Chris) Franceschi, of Kittanning, Colby (Stuart) Frazer, of Kittanning, Taryn (Bill) Martin, of Maryland, Jinae (Kory) Linsenmeyer, of Oregon, Tatum (Nate) Neal, of Oregon, Jay Tanner Szerensits, of Arizona, and Travis (Emily)

Szerensits, of Maryland; thirteen great grandchildren, Madison, Carson, and Kennedy Franceschi, Allyn and Kenley Frazer, Devon, Molly and Will Martin, Violet and Ava Neal, Radek and Leneca Linsenmeyer, and Ruby Szerensits.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Morton, who died March 3, 2004; brothers, Ken Gibson, Roy Norton, Jim Norton, Bob Hawk, and Tom Norton; and sisters, Alma Baylor, Sis Miller, and Marie Smith.

Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning. Additional viewing will be held on Thursday from 10 am until time of funeral service at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will be at Ford City Cemetery.
