Walter E. Mechling Jr.

Walter E. Mechling, Jr., 72, of Kittanning, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at ACMH Hospital.

He was born June 19, 1946, in Kittanning to the late Walter E. Mechling Sr. and Dora J. Booher-Shields.

Walter was employed as a sales rep, and was also a member of BPOE No. 203 in Kittanning.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and liked going on beach vacations, fishing, gardening, and his dog Ginger.

Survivors include his wife Nancy Lowers; three daughters, Tina (Dean) Fedorek; Teri Lowers; Samantha (David) Wonderling; 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Larry Booher and Janet Dunbar, Mike (Juanita) Booher; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Walter Mechling III, and four sisters, Jean Johns; Della Shields; Denise Shields, and Sara Stover.

Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with additional visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service with Rev. Stephen Haasch officiating. Interment will be in the Center Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Walter’s memory to the Orphans of the Storm Animal Shelter at PO Box 838 Kittanning, PA 16201.
