William L. Harkleroad, 88, of Worthington died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017, at the Armstrong County Health Center.
He was born Feb. 19, 1929, in Rural Valley to the late William R. and Gladys (Graden) Harkleroad and was a lifelong resident of the area.
He was a maintenance supervisor at Moonlight Mushroom Mines and he also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
William was a member of the Worthington Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time outside, riding his ATV and relaxing by his pond. He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and pet Guinea pigs.
Father of daughter, Diana (Terry) Long of Kittanning; daughter, Brenda (Ron) Yeany of Worthington; son, Bill Harkleroad of Worthington; grandfather of Rene (Christopher) Claypool, Jeff (Paula) Painter, Brody (Jen) Yeany, Casey Harkleroad; great-grandfather of Paige Pacek, Shianne, Blayde, and Layden Painter; sisters, Lois Parks and Helen McKelvey; and brothers, Blaine (Florence) Harkleroad and Earl (Betty) Harkleroad.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Emma Jean Harkleroad, who passed away on April 14, 2014.
Friends will be received from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home, 119 Bear St., Worthington. Additional viewing will be held from 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Buchanan officiating. Burial will be at West Glade Run Cemetery.
