William B. Thompson, 83, of Butler, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, at the Butler VA Hospice. He was born Dec. 16, 1934, in Butler, to the late William C. Thompson and Amber Bell (Maxwell) Thompson. He was retired from Nationwide Insurance in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean War. He attended Center Hill Church of the Brethren in Kittanning, and was a member of the Butler Flying Club. Bill loved flying, golfing, and traveling.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife, Illene Thompson, of Butler; son, Scott (Lisa) Thompson, of Florida, and one other son; granddaughter, Bonnie, of Fox Chapel, and four other grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth Thompson, of Butler, and Robert (Barbara) Thompson, of Butler; and sister, Carol Jane (Charles) Kuntz, of Butler. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald B. Thompson; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Thompson.
Friends will be received on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning. Additional viewing will be held from 10 a.m., until time of funeral service at 11 a.m., on Monday Sept. 10, at Center Hill Church of the Brethren, 2039 Freeport Rd., Kittanning, Pa. 16201, with Pastor Donald Peters officiating. Interment will be in Butler County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Butler VA Hospice (400 Unit), 325 New Castle Rd., Butler, Pa. 16001.
