Audrey Ann (Wolfe) John

Audrey Ann (Wolfe) John, 82, of Ford City, died on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.  She was born in Carnegie, Pa. on June 3, 1943 to the late Clifford Palmer Wolfe and Evelyn Mathilda (Hogenmiller) Wolfe, and was a lifelong resident of the community.  She was a 1961 graduate of Kittanning Senior High School and earned an Associate's of Arts Degree in Criminology at IUP.    Audrey was the first female police officer for the Borrough of Ford City, served as patrol officer in Elderton for 5 years, and in 1990 became the first female Chief of Police in Armstrong County for the City of Parker.  She also worked as a contract security officer at the Federal Building in Pittsburgh and at social security offices in Beaver Falls and Butler.  She was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Kittanning where she served as a Deacon, council secretary and church historian.  She was also a member of Roy Frick Booher Memorial Post 325 American Legion Auxiliary.  Audrey enjoyed genealogy, sewing, costumes in particular, shooting pool and occasional visits to the casino.

 She leaves behind to forever cherish her memory, her daughter, Paula Ambrose, of Ford City; son, Richard Ambrose, Jr., of Florida; sisters, Mary Jo Wojton, of Ford City and Linda (Tom) Ortmann, of Ford City; 4 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and step-children.  In addition to her parents, Audrey was preceded in death by her former husbands, Richard Ambrose, Richard DiGregorio and Earl John; sister, Judith Wolfe Harmon; brother, John M. Wolfe; and daughter, Theresa Ambrose. 

 Friends will received form 5-7 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning with funeral service to immediately follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Edward Walters officiating.
