Avanell Irene (Lasher) Painter, 96, of Kittanning, passed away Monday April 20, 2026 at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot. She was born December 11, 1929 in Templeton to the late Byron H. Lasher and Ida Irene (Myers) Painter-Zimmerman. Avanell was a homemaker and of the Protestant faith.
She liked cooking, word searches, crossword puzzles and playing Yahtzee. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Avanell is survived by her children Byron J. Painter, Cheri L. Lindsay, Stacey L. McGinnis, and Bradley J. Painter; grandchildren David C. Trudgen, Kenneth (Donna) Trudgen, Jill Dunmire, Jennifer (Jon) Aglio, Jamie (Kate) Lindsay, Michael (Cresta) McGinnis, Lisa (Bobby) Kline, Kenneth (Donna) McGinnis, Kristina (Hans) Alexander, and Emma Painter; 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Homer John Painter; daughter Joelene Trudgen-Thompson; grandchildren Molly (Painter) Adams, Byron Painter Jr., and Angela McGinnis; son-in-laws Bill Thompson and Paul McGinnis; brother Ronald Lasher and infant brother Ray Arland Lasher.
Friends will be received on Saturday April 25, 2026 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning from 1:00 P.M. until the time of a funeral service at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor Dave Maitland officiating. Interment is in Lawn Haven Burial Estates in Worthington.
