Barbara Louise Sherry

Barbara Louise Sherry, 85, formerly of Worthington, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023 at Sinking Spring Nursing Home in Reading, Pa. She was born May 17, 1938 in Worthington, Pa. After graduating from Worthington High School in 1956, she attended Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio and Indiana State University in Indiana, Pa. Her life was dedicated to Christian education. She worked at the Christian Bookstore in Kittanning, taught at Miller Road Christian School in Garland, Texas and Pensacola Christian School in Florida, and Bethel Baptist School in Warren, Ohio and also was the assistant librarian at Washington Bible College in Lanham, Maryland for several years. Upon retirement, she moved to Lancaster, Pa. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Grace Sherry; sister and husband, Carolyn (Sherry) and Carl Bowser; and niece, Julie Monte. Barbara is survived by her sister, Janice and husband, Joe Monte. 

Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 20, 2023 at F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home, 119 Bear St., Worthington, Pa. Additional viewing will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robert Hindman officiating.  Burial will be in Worthington Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Barbara’s memory to Berean Bible Church Missionary Fund, 675 Lincoln Garden Rd., Ephrata, Pa. 17522.
