Beatrice J. (Febinger) Smith, 92, of Kittanning was called home to the Lord on Monday, July 26, 2021, at Seasons of Saxonburg Personal Care Home. She was born on August 12, 1928, to William C. Febinger, Sr. and Wilda Pearl (Young) Febinger in Ford City. Bea married the love of her life, James H. Smith, on November 29, 1947 and celebrated 71 years of marriage before he passed on March 30, 2019. Bea was a member of the Union Avenue United Methodist Church in Kittanning and The Order of Eastern Star. She retired in 1989 from the Armstrong County Court House, having worked as a secretary in the Veteran’s Affairs office and the Commissioner’s Office. She enjoyed reading, sewing, baking (especially Chocolate Chip Cookies), knitting and crocheting. She cherished her family and enjoyed spending time with them and her many friends. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra J. Ashley and husband Robert; 6 grandchildren – James E. Smith and wife Andrea, Pamela J. White and husband Ronald, Brian R. Ashley and wife Teresa, Amber D. Hornburg and husband Michael, Brett A. Ashley and wife Lauren; 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Larry J. Smith and Jeffrey A. Smith; brothers, Edward Febinger, William Febinger Jr., Donald Febinger and Thomas Febinger; sister, JoAnne (Febinger) Walrath. Family and friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2021, in the Snyder Crissman Funeral Home, 200 South McKean Street., Kittanning, PA 16201. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2021 in the Union Avenue, United Methodist Church, with Deborah L. Kociban, Senior Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Kittanning Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Beatrice J. Smith to the Kittanning Library.
