Betty Jean (Transue-Crispen) Jordan, 99, passed peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 25, 2022, at the home of her son, Paul and wife, Wanda who had been her caretakers for the last three years of her life. She was born in Tarrtown, Pa., on Jan. 22, 1923, to James and Elizabeth Transue. She was a lifetime resident of the Kittanning area. She married Paul W. Crispen, Sr. on May 31, 1943. Together, they raised two sons. Betty was primarily a homemaker, well known for being an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed having family and friends for dinner at her home. In her younger years, she baked and sold hundreds of dozens of cookies at the holidays. One of her well known items was a French Pastry Roll cookie which was tremendous work but a favorite enjoyed by all. Betty was a devoted and loyal member of the Kittanning Church of God, since 1967. She volunteered and participated in all church activities, for many years. Betty remarried Willard W. Jordan on April 26, 1980, adding to her loving family.
Left behind to cherish her memory includes: her son, Paul W. (Wanda) Crispen, Jr. and their four children: Larry (Jennifer) Crispen, Michael Crispen, Paul Crispen and Andrea (Scott) Pyle; her son, James A. (Sherry) Crispen and their son, Bradley J. (Kelsey) Crispen; step children: Willard Jordan and his five children: LeAnne, Melissa, Paul, James and DawnAllisa; Elizabeth (James) Crissman and their four children: Jennifer, Brenda, Rebecca and Jeffrey; Joyce Sherry and her daughter, Amanda; and step son, Phillip Jordan’s children: Christopher, Sarah and Amber; a sister, Patricia Eyer; a total of 38 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; and also numerous nieces and nephews survive.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother; husband, Paul; and second husband, Willard; three brothers: James Transue, Larry Transue and Adam Transue; a sister, Shirley McCammon; grandson, Jesse Toy III; step son, Philip Jordan; and step grandson, Chad Sherry.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, April 28, 2022, in the Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home, 253 North Grant Ave., Kittanning, from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Grimm officiating. Burial will follow in Lawn Haven Burial Estates.
