Carol L. (McGinnis) Shumaker, 65, of Kittanning, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 26, 2016. She was born on July 5, 1951, in Kittanning to Francis and Mildred (Waugaman) McGinnis. She was a homemaker and well known for her famous homemade sugar cookies.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Carl F. Shumaker Sr. of Kittanning; her mother, Mildred McGinnis of Kittanning; her daughter, Mary Lou (Larry Jr.) John of Ford City; son, Carl F. Shumaker Jr. of Kittanning; granddaughters, Ashley Genta of Ford City, Brandi John of Ford City, and Emily Shumaker of Ford City; grandsons, James (Christina) John of Yatesboro, and Austin Shumaker of Kittanning; great-grandchildren, Michael Grates, Ciara Genta, Haley Genta, Morgan John, Makala Grates, and Owen Wingard; and brothers, Ron (Sandy) McGinnis of Kittanning, Don (Cheryl) McGinnis of Kittanning, Paul (Stacey) McGinnis of Kittanning, Randy (Trish) McGinnis of Kittanning, Jack (Bev) McGinnis of Kittanning, Jim (Della) McGinnis of Ford City, Larry (Mary) McGinnis of Kittanning, Terry McGinnis of Kittanning, and sister Peggy (John) Waldenville of Ford City.

She was preceded in death by her father Francis “Cuddy” McGinnis who passed away on July 20, 2006, and her sister Vicky Lynn McGinnis, who passed away on Nov. 8, 1962.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. in the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning with Pastor Tim Kutch officiating.

Interment will be in Ford City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Carol’s honor to The American Cancer Society.
