Carol L. Smith

Carol L. Smith, 82, of Worthington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Quality Life Services-Chicora Medical Center. She was born March 21, 1940, in Furnace Run to the late Charles W. and Margaret (Lemmon) Holmes. Carol was raised in Fenelton and attended Butler High School. 

She previously attended Christ Community Chapel in Worthington. Carol was employed as a waitress for 31 years at the Snack Bar in Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. 

She married Carl A. Smith Sr. on November 9, 1956, and resided in Worthington. 

Carol provided unconditional love to her family. She was a kind and gentle soul who enjoyed laughter with family and friends. Carol enjoyed traveling, camping and trips to the shore with her cousin, Barb who was like a second sister. Holmes County, Ohio was one of her favorite places to visit. She also enjoyed day trips to Volant, Smicksburg and evening visits with her friends, Cathy and Rose. Carol liked having coffee with Tootie and Linda at the Old Worthington Drug Store. 

She is survived by her son, Carl A. Smith Jr. and daughter, Marci L. Smith of Worthington; sister Karen (Dolly) (Richard) Bayer of Fenelton; Cousin, Barbara (Sonny) Harter of Kittanning; two brother in-laws, Earl Smith of Butler and Wayne (Nancy) Smith of Worthington; two sister in-laws, Ester Neupert and Ruth (Joe) Gaggini of Worthington. She was Aunt Carol to many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Carol also leaves behind her beloved dog, Roman. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Smith Sr. who passed away on May 28, 1989; Brothers, Charles A. Holmes and Wallace Holmes; 

Carol fought a long hard battle with dementia and Parkinson’s. The family would like to thank all the people who loved and cared for her at Quality Life Services-Chicora and Sugarcreek Rest, Amidisys Hospice and Three Rivers Hospice. 

Family and friends of Carol L. Smith will be received on Sarturday, March 11, 2023 in the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home, 119 Bear Street, Worthington, PA 16262 from 10:00am until time of funeral services at 12 noon with Rev. Sue Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Worthington Presbyterian Cemetery.
