Claire Allyne (Gaiser) Shaffer, 98, of Worthington, Pennsylvania, passed away June 18, 2024 in Lecanto, Florida.  Allyne was born in Worthington, PA on April 24th, 1926 to Karl J. Gaiser and Pearl May (Tate) Gaiser.  She was a Worthington-West Franklin High School graduate in 1943, and a long time member of the Worthington Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. She also enjoyed her time as a Girl Scout and Brownie Leader, as well as a Sunday school teacher.

Over the years she worked in many jobs including; the offices of Pittsburgh Limestone, Armstrong County Conservation, The Armstrong Superintendent of Schools, and the County Welfare Office, where she was a Case Worker.  The majority of her life she lived in Worthington. Before relocating to Lecanto Fl, she especially loved the senior center, where she and Ken joined friends, to share meals and good company.

She leaves behind her two children, Donna S. McBride (Don) and Philip K. Shaffer (Brenda); her grandchildren, Kelly J. McFarland (Cris), Erica L. (Shaffer) Bogardus, Bryan K. McFarland (Eva), and Loren A. (Shaffer) Bellante; and great-grandchildren, Michael Jacob McFarland, and Lee Jacob Bogardus.  She was preceded in death by her much cherished huband of 70 years, Kenneth E. Shaffer; her mother, Pearl, and father, Karl; and two brothers, James Gaiser and Richard Gaiser.

At 98 she had seen the loss of many family and friends, whom she loved, and have loved her dearly.

Viewing will be held at the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home, 119 Bear St., Worthington, Pa. on Friday, June 28th from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with funeral services immediately following at 5 p.m. with Pastor Dorothy Worth officiating.  Interment will be in Worthington Lutheran Cemetery.
