Darrel C. Bowser, 84, of Kittanning, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, at his home. He was born Feb. 12, 1934, in Worthington, a son of King O. Bowser and Mabel L. (Cole) Bowser. He was an active member of West Glade Run Presbyterian Church since 1953, and served as a trustee, elder, and Sunday School teacher. Darrel was Cub Master and Scout Master of Troop 661 in Worthington, and restored the scout cabins and campground on Buffalo Creek, above Craigsville. He also was a member of Kittanning Lodge No. 244 F&M and the Coudersport Consistory. Darrel worked for his father, the King O. Bowser Construction Company for 25 years, and then was self-employed for five years. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and taught carpentry/millwork at Lenape Technical School for 20 years, retiring in 1995. Darrel enjoyed traveling and camping with his beloved wife of 62 years, Margaret L. (Campbell) Bowser, whom he married July 10, 1952, and died Oct. 1, 2014. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Bowser, and a sister, Bonnie Bowser.
Surviving are his sons, Darrel K. “Kim” Bowser and wife, Diane, of Kittanning and Bruce S. Bowser and wife, Kimberly, of Apollo; grandchildren, John M. Bowser, Jerica L. (Bowser) Yanik and husband, Edward, Mark A. Bowser, Marissa E. (Bowser) Laake and husband, Devin; great-grandchildren, Zander Laake and Roslyn Yanik; step-grandsons, Justin Cogley and Colten Cogley; and a brother, Jesse K. Bowser and wife, Shirley, of Worthington.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, at the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home, 119 Bear St., Worthington. A Masonic service will be held at 5:45 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be held on Monday at the West Glade Run Presbyterian Church from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at noon, with the Rev. Robert Hindman officiating. Burial will follow in the West Glade Run Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
