David Bell Obituary

     David R. Bell, 95, of Kittanning, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 with his loving family by his side.  He was born in Rural Valley, Pa to the late David R. Bell Sr. and Anna Runyan.  He was the last surviving member of his siblings, James “Eck” Bell, Arthur “Red” Bell, Glenn Bell, Myrtle Rupp, and Dorothy Bell.  He will be remembered for sitting on the front porch swing, telling stories, going to Benezette to see the elk, and watching the birds and deer in the yard.  David enjoyed card playing with his nephews.  He was a proud World War II veteran who fought in the “Battle of the Bulge” for his country proudly.  He was retired from PPG and PennDOT. 

     He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Isabell Bell, who passed away in 2014; his son, James Bell, who passed away in 1976; his granddaughter, Angie Marie; and his sons-in-law, John Mergen and Dave Bowser.  He is survived by his family that will love him forever but are at peace knowing he is with the love of his life.  Survivors include his daughters, Carolyn Mergen, Peggy Bowser, and Cathy Younkins; his grandchildren, Carol Altman (Jimmy), Tracy King (Scott), Jimmy Bell (Elizabeth), Cathlynn D’Ambrosio (William), and Tommy Younkins; his great-grandchildren, Alyssa Norman (Michael), Kelsey Altman, Joshua Sorrels, Autumn Sorrels, Heaven Sorrels, Oliver Bell, Luca D’Ambrosio; and the upcoming birth of his great-great-grandchildren, Carson D’Ambrosio and Owen Norman.  He will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews and special great nieces and nephews.  He will be remembered by being Uncle Dudley by special nephews, Ron Bell (Tonya), Tom Bell (Kathy), and Gary Bell; and friend and neighbor, Jack Rosenberger. 

     A private family service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 26, 2020 at Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home in Kittanning with Rev. Matthew Vatalare officiating.  Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates in Worthington, Pa.
